OUR MISSION is to ignite an enthusiastic and growing passion for God – in ourselves, our friends and neighbors, our community and our world.
OUR VISION is to see everyone excited about who Jesus is, believing what He did, knowing Him personally, loving Him and living for Him.
IGNITION KEYS - The Characteristics that Drive Ignition Church
Revolutionary Grace (Loved People Love People). Every person matters to us because every person matters to God. We want you to know God's revolutionary grace and share that same gift with others! 1 John 4:7-8 We believe God comes to us personally. Not through “religion” but in relationship. Therefore, we will be people focused on taking God’s love to others through loving action, compelling activities and “attractive” lives. Our worship gatherings will be designed for others. As a place where all people – with or without church experience – are welcome to “come as they are” and explore God and the transforming grace He offers through a personal relationship with Him. We will not however, simply wait to people to come to us, but we will take the love of Christ to the neighborhood and world around us. We will be intentional to discern needs, both physical and spiritual, and be quick to meet those needs with the love and grace of God. (1 Cor. 13:1-3, Luke 15:20-24; I John 4:7-12 Luke 10:27)
Cultural Influence (God and Life Intersect) – We will network His Ancient Truth with today’s cultural reality. We want you to benefit from God's wisdom for your life today! Isaiah 46:8-13. Jesus always connected His message with the culture of His audience. We will be culturally relevant while remaining Biblically founded. We will be aware of what is going on in our city and seek God’s creativity for how to best plug God’s love into it through us. Because we are committed to reaching, connecting with, and growing future generations for Christ, if it’s happening in our life or in our world, we will use it to share the Gospel. We will constantly seek to see more and more how God intersects with our daily lives and share that truth of a relevant and relational God with everyone we know.
Audacious Worship (God deserves our all) – We will honor God with bold and undignified worship. We want you to learn to love God boldly and be set free to give Him all the praise He deserves! II Sam. 6:12-22. We believe there is no higher purpose for humanity than to worship God. We believe God wants to be worshipped with all of our senses, loud and in whispers, with passion and tears, shouts and emotion, heart and life. We are committed to creating an environment where people can experience God and be drawn to the mystery and wonder of God’s love and majesty. We want worship to be a t-shirt friendly, casual, multi-sensory, interactive time of connecting you to Christ, and Christ to all of your life situations. We want that same worship to spill over into our lives, knowing that true worship takes place 24/7 as every aspect of our lives are offered to God for His glory.
Life Change (Growing people change) – We celebrate spiritual leaps and encourage life-long baby steps. We want you to ask tough questions of God, find mind-blowing answers, keep seeking more of God, and know His purpose for your life. Philippians 3:12-14. Spiritual growth is a life-long process of becoming more like Christ. We believe every human being is on a God-discovering journey. Some are recent Christ-followers, some are heading toward making that decision, others have believed for a long time and need to grow. Wherever you are on that path, we invite you to take your next step together with us. A love relationship with God is every life’s greatest discovery. Living that love relationship with God is the only way to realize life’s fullest potential. We will encourage people to “come as you are…but leave different!”
Astonishing Generosity (You can't out-give God) – We give because God gave His all for us. We want you to realize God's generous gifts to you and know the joy of paying it forward! 1 Timothy 6:17-19. Acknowledging that God has been astonishingly generous to us, we seek to be astonishingly generous people and an astonishingly generous church. We value sacrificing for the Kingdom of God. We know the scripture teaches that following Christ is hard and requires sacrifice. (Luke 16:10-12)
our LEAD TEAM:
CARLTON & CHERI
CARLTON: LEAD PASTOR
Carlton has a twin sister and grew up on a dairy farm in North Dakota. He loves bacon, Cinnabon, sour patch kids and his sweet wife, Cheri. He's an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He has more shoes than most women (mostly Chuck Taylor hi-tops). Was originally a radio D.J. but has been a Pastor since 1995.
CHERI: CHILDREN'S MINISTRY LEADER
Cheri was born and raised in Minnesota and is a die-hard Vikings fan. She can identify most 70's and 80's tunes by hearing just the first 2 or 3 notes of the intro. She is a special education teacher for Bennington Public schools, and loves children, especially chubby babies with squishy cheeks.
JEREMY & CORTNEY COWLEY
RIOT STUDENT MINISTRY LEADERS
Jeremy & Cortney were both born and raised in Oklahoma (even in the same hospital!) and are proud graduates of Oklahoma State University. As such, you'll often see them wearing their favorite color: orange, especially on game days. Cortney is an agricultural economist for the Federal Reserve by day and a connoisseur of ice cream and good books by night. Jeremy, a former Ag teacher, is an administrator for Omaha Public Schools. He enjoys training horses in his spare time, and according to Cortney, can do spot-on impersonations of almost anyone!
Paul was born in the Sandhills of Nebraska, which remain his favorite part of the whole country. Having toured with an alternative country band for a few years, he says he made his way onto not just one, but two public access television stations. During his travels in the South, Paul fell in love with Waffle House, sweet tea, and...his now-wife, Lou! Paul has been leading worship since 2003, and can’t get enough of A.W. Tozer and Paris Reidhead, and one way or another he’s going to make you listen to Reidhead's most famous sermon, “Ten Shekels and a Shirt.”
